Recommended Ammunition & Lubrication for A.R.T. Trigger Systems
Posted by The ART Team on Jan 25th 2026
At Advanced Reset Tech, every Active Reset Trigger (A.R.T.) system is engineered to push performance while maintaining reliability. Unlike traditional passive trigger systems, A.R.T. designs introduce active mechanical engagement during the reset cycle. This fundamentally changes how the system interacts with the firearm—and it brings a few important considerations regarding ammunition selection and lubrication.
This guide outlines what we’ve found to work best through controlled testing, extended firing schedules, and real-world use.
Lubrication Matters — Run It Wet
A.R.T. systems create controlled contact between components during reset. This additional interaction produces more friction than a conventional trigger, making lubrication not optional—it’s critical.
While actively shooting, we strongly recommend running your firearm wet, not dry.
Our Preferred Lubricants
Through extensive testing under heat, stress, and high round counts, two lubricants consistently outperformed the rest:
• Gun Butter
• Lucas Gun Oil
These lubricants provide:
• Excellent lubrication in both hot and cold conditions
• Strong resistance to burn-off at elevated temperatures
• Stable viscosity during rapid fire and suppressed use
Not all gun oils behave the same. Many thin excessively, carbonize, or burn off entirely under sustained heat. In contrast, Gun Butter and Lucas Gun Oil maintain a consistent lubricating film even under the highest temperatures encountered in our testing, making them ideal for A.R.T. systems.
Ammunition Recommendations by Platform
Glock A.R.T. Trigger Systems (9mm)
For 9mm Glock platforms—especially during break-in—we recommend:
124gr 9mm NATO
Why this matters:
• Higher operating pressure than standard 115gr 9mm Luger
• Increased slide velocity and energy
• More consistent cycling with the added resistance of an active reset system
In testing, 124gr NATO loads consistently delivered the most reliable reset behavior, particularly when the trigger system is new.
While standard 115gr ammunition will function, 124gr NATO has proven to be the most forgiving and dependable/affordable option—even prior to full break-in.
Glock ART Systems .40 S&W, 10mm Auto, & .45 ACP
These calibers generally require less special consideration.
Due to their:
• Higher operating pressures
• Greater recoil spring tension
• Increased slide speed and energy
well-made factory ammunition in .40 S&W, 10mm Auto, and .45 ACP has demonstrated reliable performance with A.R.T. systems without issue.
Ruger 10/22 A.R.T. System (.22 LR)
Rimfire platforms—especially those utilizing an active reset—are far more sensitive to ammunition selection.
We recommend:
• CCI Mini-Mags
• CCI Stingers
These loads provide:
• Higher and more consistent bolt energy
• Cleaner, more reliable ignition
• Improved interaction with the bolt reset mechanism
Cheap or underpowered .22 LR ammunition is the most common source of reset-related issues. Quality ammo makes a significant difference.
TX22 with Steel Striker Housing (.22 LR)
After installing the steel striker housing, the operating behavior of the TX22 changes by design.
The steel striker is intended to:
• Slow operating speed
• Provide a steady, controllable firing rate
• Improve reliability across a wider range of ammunition—especially when suppressed
With this configuration, many users find their TX22 will run nearly any .22 LR ammunition while suppressed but weaker ammo may have an issue cycling unsuppressed.
Just as important as ammo selection is lubrication. A liberal application of proper lubricant to the reset interfaces and all moving components dramatically improves reliability and consistency in rimfire systems.
Suppressed Use
All A.R.T. trigger systems are fully compatible with suppressed operation.
In many cases, we’ve observed that systems:
• Cycle more consistently
• Reset more positively
• Exhibit improved overall reliability
when run suppressed, due to increased back pressure and added slide/bolt energy.
We encourage users to report their findings—positive or negative—when running suppressed. Real-world data directly contributes to continued refinement and long-term support of our designs.
Final Notes
A.R.T. systems are engineered to deliver performance beyond traditional trigger designs—but optimal results depend on proper setup and support equipment.
Selecting the right ammunition and lubrication ensures:
• Maximum reliability
• Reduced wear
• Consistent reset behavior
• Long-term durability
As always, quality components, proper maintenance, and thoughtful configuration make all the difference.
